Student Organizations at Murray State College
Student organizations at Murray State College evolve year to year based on student interests and needs. Some organizations are primarily social, while others are academic, professional, cultural, or service-based. All student organizations must operate under approved constitutions that align with the educational mission and policies of the college.
All funds collected by student organizations must be deposited with and managed through the College Business Office. Organizations must follow accepted fiscal and audit procedures. Failure to adhere to college financial or activity policies may result in probation or suspension of the organization.
Any student organization sponsoring an event (on or off campus) must complete a General Education Activity Registration Form and submit it to the Executive Director of Student Affairs at least five (5) days prior to the event. The form can be accessed at forms.mscok.edu under “Activity Request Form.” The Executive Director and/or the Vice President for Student Affairs may suggest modifications to planned activities or fundraisers as needed.

Requirements to Maintain Active Status
To remain in good standing as an active student organization at Murray State College, each group must:

Hold regular meetings (at least once per month). Meeting dates and times should be shared with the Student Life Office and SGA Director of Media Relations at least 7 days in advance.

Maintain an up-to-date Constitution, Charter, and Strategic Plan.

Have a faculty or staff sponsor (full-time employee) who attends meetings and activities.

Conduct financial operations transparently in accordance with College policy.

Have a designated member attend each SGA meeting. At least one in-person meeting per semester is required; Zoom is available for remote attendees.

Ensure officers maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA throughout their term of service.

Submit meeting minutes electronically to the Executive Director of Student Affairs within 5 days after each meeting.
