2.10 Rhetorical Modes: End-of-Chapter Exercises
[1]End-of-Chapter Exercises
- The thesis statement is a fundamental element of writing regardless of which rhetorical mode you are using. Formulate one more thesis for each of the modes discussed in this chapter.
- Which rhetorical mode seems most aligned with who you are as a writer? That is, which mode seems most useful to you? Explain why in a paragraph.
- During the research this semester, look closely at the texts and articles you read. Document in a journal which type of rhetorical mode is being used in each source. Sometimes an entire article may rely on only one rhetoical mode; however, others may use multiple modes. The more you can detect various ways of communicating ideas, the easier it will be to do it yourself.
