Building a Foundation

Before delving into the art of analyzing and posing arguments about literary selections, it is important to have a base from which to build. For our class, that base will consist of concepts and vocabulary that we will use throughout the semester. We will construct this base and practice using these concepts with the use of two stories: “Cinderella” by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, and “The Story of an Hour” by Kate Chopin. Once our foundation is solid, we will be ready to move on to applying these concepts to the rest of our reading selections.
