Preface

This book is intended to support courses that focus on writing as a way to experience and explore literature, and therefore it includes a number of short stories that are commonly used in literature-based writing courses. When possible, the complete stories are included within this book; in some cases, the works are still protected under U.S. copyright law, so only the first few paragraphs are provided, along with a link out to the web to read the complete story. Chapters that include works in the Public Domain will include a note to that effect.
