Readings for Essay #2: Literary Research Paper

When analyzing literature there are many, many approaches one can take. Over the years, several of these critical approaches have become prominent within the world of literary study. To begin this unit, we will study these critical approaches as we apply them to the short story, “The Yellow Wallpaper.” Once we are comfortable with these approaches, you will choose one to apply to three Edgar Allan Poe tales: “The Cask of Amontillado,” “The Tell-Tale Heart,” and “Hop-Frog.” Your analysis of the Poe tales in light of your chosen approach will be the basis of your research paper.
