Unit 1: What Will I Write About?: From Topic to Research Question

In Unit 1, you will learn some basic concepts related to college-level composition. When you write as an academic, you are entering the scholarly conversation. This conversation is already in progress. Other researchers, writers, and experts have been discussing your subject for a while.  Your task will be to read their writing, think about your own ideas, and make connections. Then you will be writing your part of the conversation so that others can join you in the conversation.
