verde

Notice:

  • All colors must agree in gender (masculine, feminine) and number (singular, plural) with the object they describe, i. e.: i fagiolini sono verdi, la lattuga è verde, except: blu, rosa, viola which never change.
  •  When you add chiaro [light] and scuro [dark] to a color, no agreement is needed, as in questa mela è rosso scuro.
  • There are many more colors, such as beige, magenta, fucsia, lilla (which never change, just like blu, rosa, viola).
  • In Italian you can also refer to a color with an object of that color, i.e.: color pesca [peach color], color nocciola [hazelnut color].
  • Colors are always masculine and they take the definite article, i.e.: mi piace l’azzurro; non mi piace il giallo, ecc.
