File storage is simple and low cost, but it lacks the capacity for efficient retrieval of specific data. Database storage, on the other hand, is organized and designed for easy retrieval of specific data. Database management systems (DBMS) are software applications used to manage the storage and retrieval of data. DBMS can be classified into Relational DBMS and Non-Relational DBMS. Relational DBMS organizes data into tables that can be linked together to create complex structures for storing information.

Data analysis is an essential tool used in decision making. Data analysis summarizes data to describe what happened in the past and identify the root cause of this issue.  Once the root cause has been identified, steps can be taken to address the problem. By identifying the underlying causes of issues and taking concrete steps to address them, organizations can improve performance, increase effectiveness, and drive long-term success.

  2. How can data be stored and retrieved efficiently?
  3. What are the main components of a database management system?
  4. When should I use a relational database versus a flat file database?
  5. How do you approach data cleaning and preparation for analysis?

  7. How do you choose the best algorithm for a given analysis?
