15 Recovering Our Sense of Humor: New Directions in Feminist Humor Studies (2015)

Kathryn Kein

This essay addresses the lack of women in the previous section of this book. Starting with an assertion of the effects of such a male-dominated discourse on both women comedians and women in general, this article criticizes the classical study of humor and looks for new ways to study this subject that take into account female and nonbinary genders. This essay is a book review of several academic books and through its review of these books raises interesting questions for us to consider about gender and humor.
