Composition II (ENGL 1213): Formal Presentation

As part of our semester-end reflections, you will translate your research paper into a short presentation. You may choose to discuss the content of the essay or your research/writing process for the essay. The presentation also requires a visual aid, which can be a PowerPoint Presentation, poster board, handout, etc. Be prepared to answer questions from the class, as well.

Assignment Requirements:

Compose a short formal presentation (5-8 minutes) about your research paper

Introduce yourself

Have an organized presentation that moves logically from point to point

Speak loudly and clearly and in a varied tone of voice

Maintain some eye contact

Use appropriate gestures

Discuss the content or process of the essay

Conclude appropriately by thanking the audience and/or asking for questions

Use correct grammar and mechanics, as well as vocabulary appropriate for a college-level presentation

Incorporate a professional/academic visual aid into the presentation

❗For the formal presentation, I will keep time, and it will count toward the grade. Please practice your presentation to ensure you’re within the given window.
