Composition I (ENGL 1113): Causal Thesis and Rhetorical Precis Assignment

As part of the writing process for the causal analysis essay, you will write a thesis and do some preliminary research for sources. Rhetorical precis are highly structured paragraphs that capture essential information about a source. We will be writing a modified precis that will also help prepare you for Composition II and annotated bibliography assignments.

Assignment Requirements:

Compose a thesis statement for your causal analysis and a rhetorical precis for a source that would be appropriate to use in your essay

Have a causal thesis statement with 3-4 points

Choose a source that is academically credible

Reference the precis source using APA format

Develop the six required parts/sentences of the precis

Use correct grammar and mechanics, as well as vocabulary appropriate for a college-level assignment

❗Assignments should be double-spaced and use Times New Roman 12pt
