5 Multi-tiered Systems of Support

In this chapter, you will be exploring and learning about multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).  MTSS provides targeted early intervening services to students who struggle academically (Response to Intervention – RTI) and socially/behaviorally (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports – PBIS). The number of tiers and the focus of each tier will vary slightly depending on the school, but multiple tiers with increasingly intensive interventions and progress monitoring are found in all versions.
