Crediting ideas, words, or works to a particular author, artist, or person.

background information

information needed to understand a topic or issue. This may include historical context or significance and terminology.

citation

A note describing the original source of ideas, words, or works included in a research paper or project.

databases

a library database is a collection of information from different sources such as newspapers, magazines, ebooks, streaming videos, images, and more. Most library database content is not freely available via Google.

encyclopedia

a book or ebook collection of fact based entries about many different topics

iterative

repeating similar steps or actions

metadata

Individual pieces of information that describe a large piece of information. An author or title of an article are examples of metadata.

peer-review

the process of evaluating scholarly work prior to publication

research

the systematic exploration for information; finding new information to answer a question or satisfy a curiosity

scholarly

sources written by researchers or academics in a particular field with the intention of sharing research findings and contributing to the advancement of knowledge

search statement.

a strategic combination of keywords and connecting words (like AND) used for database searching
