Learning Objectives

Course Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Develop a personal and global view of the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and the impacts of the SDOH on self, patients, and communities.
  2. Develop and increase cognitive skills of involvement (SOI), including intuition, empathy, sensitivity, and cultural humility.
  3. Use nursing theory as a guiding framework to develop a personal nursing philosophy.
  4. Reflect on health inequality in diverse populations and rural communities and apply the concept of person-centered care to the nursing process.
  5. Explore implicit bias through self-reflection and exploration of the humanities, understanding that nursing is a socially embedded practice.
